In collaboration with Ceramic artist, Britt Neech, we have created a collaborative work which explores the notion of symbiosis and how this relates to human relationships. The different types of symbiosis are:

• Commensalism - where one organism benefits and the other is neither harmed nor helped.

• Mutualism - where both organisms benefit. An obligate mutualist cannot survive without its partner; a facultative mutualist can survive on its own.

• Parasitism - one organism (the parasite) benefits and the other (the host) is harmed.

Ceramic pieces are hand built and glazed using Britt’s own recipe; each form and surface emerging subtly unique. Hannah uses the individual ceramic objects to directly mould a corresponding wax form which she then casts into silver. The dialogue between the two distinct materials invites the viewer to consider relationships they have in their own lives.
